Empowering Youth with Real Life Lessons, Financial Literacy & Budgeting

DC Jain Youth Career Mentorship Program 2025

Career Mentorship and Financial Literacy for Youth: What if the greatest insights regarding financial literacy and careers came from real  life stories rather than text books. What if a single narrative could change your view of the future?

After laying down the ground work with resume building and interview skills, we advanced further in the world youth skills day Initiative. By diving into the real world of career awareness, financial education and budgeting through storytelling.

In partnership with Anudip foundation, the second session wasn’t only about knowledge rather, personal growth, perspectives and experiences.

Breaking the Ice

The session began with an impactful self introduction time and engaging activities. Each student expressed their career aspirations, dreams and desires. Some students expressed their desire to excel in the IT sector, while others share their aspirations in technology, fashion, design, entrepreneurship etc. What began as an ice-breaker, quickly transformed the atmosphere into a room filled with realistic discussion to fulfill the hopes and dreams.

Career Mentorship by Mr Nitin Jain

“Is your mindset helping you grow or holding you back?”

This was the very first question asked by our mentor, which made students think and reflect. The question itself triggered the hearts and minds of the students.

Mr Nitin Jain brought real life experiences to the table, engaged with students and thoughtfully answered each of the questions.

It was real mentorship, real talk, real life wisdom. Heart to heart conversations encouraged the students to open their minds and heart. Together they delved deeper into the real life lessons such as:

  • How are career aspirations formed?
  • What kind of mindset do we need to have in order for us to grow?
  • What shapes the career expectations?
  • What role does self awareness play in decision making?
  • How is text book knowledge different from real life knowledge?

This was more than a session, it was a genuine mentorship.

Financial Literacy comes to life

“What would you do with your first salary?”

What made the session exceptional is the practical approach to manage finances. Because, after discussing the careers and mindset, finances comes next

Students get to understand how to strike a balance between rent, transportation, travel expenses, leisure and savings.

Students were able to relate well, as they transition to adulthood. They learn how and what to prioritise the finances. They pondered upon the questions “will this decision contribute to my growth or is it a short term pleasure”? These questions ignited a sense of self awareness and making mindful decisions. No complicated jargons, but practical conscious choices and decisions.

Not just an advice, Time for Mindset Shift

The session was not merely surface level guidance, but its change of mindset and heart.

  • What truly resonated with students is a stronger sense of responsibility, accountability.
  • A faith in one’s own capacity to handle real life situations.
  • Power of self reflection.

Word of Gratiitude

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Anudip foundation for providing invaluable support and platform. Special heartfelt thanks to Mr Nitin Jain, whose narratives, practical experiences turn the session into an impactful learning experience. Together we shape the future of India, One skill at a time.
